How to Justify Spending Money on Anything »

Menu Monday - Why I Share the Menu

I know it must seem a little strange to share my weekly menu on a budget blog, but there is a method to my madness. My monthly grocery budget is $300, and I usually keep pretty close to that figure. This includes all meals at home, most lunches, cooking for guests and bringing food to parties. The reason I share my menus is so others can see that it’s possible to eat pretty well on a budget. It doesn’t have to be all rice and beans. Many times I see other frugal cooking blogs and, while some of the menu looks great, many meals are not my style. Of course, there are the days where we eat hot dogs for dinner, but for the most part we try to step it up a notch. We like to try new foods and some can be quite expensive. The menus I make represent how we balance the expensive foods so we can stay within our budget.

Monday: Chicken Club Sandwiches & Potato Salad

Tuesday: Steak Kabobs

Wednesday: BBQ Ribs & Grilled Corn

Thursday: Cobb Salad & Watermelon-Tomato Soup (the closest I can get to Gazpacho, since my husband hates cucumbers)

Friday: Chicken Fajitas

Saturday: Husband’s Company Picnic

Sunday: leftovers

This is going to be one of those weeks where if I miss a night, I’ll end up with bad food in my fridge, so I have to stay on top of the menu. So far, so good!
