July in Review & August Goals

July is now over and I am excited to say that we met our goal and paid off over 1.5% of our total debt! Thankfully July was less crazy than recent months (no business loans coming due, no taxes) so we made some good headway. Here are the current debt numbers:

  • Total debt: $136,486.74 (down from $139,830.67 in June)
  • Credit Card Debt: $0 (Paid off 12/08)
  • Car Loan 1: $4,363.19 (down from $4,762.18 in June)
  • Car Loan 2: $21,682.90 (down from $22,074.37 in June)
  • Jess’ Student Loan: $26,781.90 (down from $26,958.19 in June)
  • Cory’s Student Loan: $78,569.69 (down from $79,077.87 in June)
  • Business Loan: $5,089.06 (down from $6,958.06 in June)
We paid off $3,343.93 of principal in July and we have now paid off a total of 36.98% of our debt! It was a good month.
In August, the focus is going to change a little bit as we’re going on vacation at the end of the month. The goal for August is save up the cash for our vacation. I am still working on the complete vacation budget and will post it in a couple of days.

It’s always nice to see debt go down. I loved the fact that we saved up for our lake trip, although we weren’t quite prepared for what we ended up spending while we were there! Where are you going on vacation?
