A Contacts Mistake that Costs me Money

A few months ago, I went to the eye doctor (for the first time in five years) to check my prescription on my contacts. The good news is that my prescription hasn’t changed in all that time - though that’s a lousy excuse to not go for 5 years. The better news is they recommended a new brand of contacts (Acuvue Oasis), which are so much easier on my eyes.

So what’s the problem?

I ran out of contacts and saw an email to reorder my prescription from Coastal Conracts. I clicked on the link and quickly reordered my prescription. Fast forward to yesterday. I’m on my last pair of contacts, and I was thrilled to see my new contacts in the mailbox. I opened them up… and they were the old kind of contacts. The ones that make my eyes bloodshot and blurry.

I can’t make myself wear them anyway to save the $7 it’ll take to return them for my new brand of contacts, but I’m very irritated with myself for making this mistake. As much as I want to blame the company for sending me my old brand, I really should have looked at what I was ordering first. Just another example of how attention to detail can cost you money.
